Black Rock Beach

After we went shopping we came back to the timeshare and had lunch. Then we packed up, sun screened up and headed to Black Rock beach. This is a beach Scott and I had gone to when we came 5 years ago. It was really calm and great for snorkeling which is why we came to this one. It had big enough waves for boogie boarding though but was calm enough for Kyler so that was good.
Pam came with us and we visited on the beach while the kids played and Scott took turns taking the kids out snorkeling. I am so jealous that Scott got to see a few sea turtles! Scott’s Dad has an underwater Camera and so he borrowed that and told me that he got some great photos so it will be fun to see those when they come in! Even Kyler took turns ‘snorkeling’. He rides on Scott’s back in the water and wears goggles on his head. Then he leans over Scott and looks into the water. That is his version of snorkeling, it is so very cute.
Kyler just was so funny at Black Rock beach. He kept collecting all sorts of rocks that were black. Then all of a sudden he comes over and tells me, “This doesn’t make sense?” Pam and I were visiting so I just said “What doesn’t?” and then Kyler said “How can there be a white rock on black rock beach?” It was so cute to see his brain trying to make sense of everything. We told him that it was a thoughtful idea he had and we weren’t sure what it was that there was a white rock. Then Kyler said that there were some black spots so that was why it could be on rock beach. Kyler also found lots and lots of shells and shark teeth. =) When Grandpa came to pick us up at the beach Kyler told him that he had found a baby, a mommy and a daddy shark tooth, it was really cute. We brought a baggie of shells back with us so those will be fun to put in a jar when we get home.
One of my big worries about going to Hawaii with a 4 year old was the waves. I was worried about Kyler getting pulled under or smashed down on the surf. Well, I can’t believe how much I didn’t need to worry about the kids. It was crazy. Hawaii is SOO different than CA beaches, so very different. The current doesn’t pull you under, it doesn’t smell bad, there isn’t garbage, the people are so friendly and it’s just a whole different experience! I really feel so blessed my kids had such a great time, it was heavenly!
