Well I had a day of Dr. apts today and I am officially exhausted. Here is what we learned today:
1-My neurosurgeon is perplexed and not sure what to think about my recent scan so he is taking my case to the tumor board of review tomorrow. I should get a call from him tomorrow evening letting me know what the board's opinion is on my situation.
2-Two most likely scenarios are that they determine it is for sure new tumor growth and I need to take action soon or that it is inconclusive as to whether it is radiation necrosis or treatment related and we will continue to monitor things for the next 2 months. Does this sound like a broken record? It's because it is.
3-The Dr. reiterated that he just doesn't know what to make of my case and that it is just really, really hard to tell if the 'blip' in my brain is treatment related or new growth. Scott and I think it is new growth but we will see what he says tomorrow.
4-Some tidbits about sizing, I asked him to measure the growth of the 'blip' and he did. In the fall it was like 4 mm and in Dec it had grown to 8 mm and in January it was around 9 mm...well today it measured at 11 mm. So while it is not growing at the rate it was before, thank goodness, it is definitely growing.
A growing tumor is never a good thing...just for the record....anyhow, I will post more when I know more...till I hear back from Dr. Jensen and the tumor board of review there isn't much more to say! Don't you JUST love waiting??? =)
