Snorkeling Attempt

Mother and Daughter in our matching turtle wraps! I bought one when I was in Kauai when I was pregnant with Kaylie and that is the green one she is wearing. Then I have another sea turtle one that I got in Maui five years ago that I'm wearing. It was fun to share my Hawaiian clothes so Kaylie and I could be twinners!!

After lunch it was time to hit the beach again. After all what do you do on Hawaii except go from the beach to the pool and back? Especially when you are a kid!! Grandma and Grandpa Wright, Kayllie and I decided to try snorkeling. Once I was in it was really neat to see the fish, but getting in and out was painful and so now I am very snorkel shy. Scott got to see a sea turtle!! I tried to when he told me about it, but I guess it was booking it because Scott said he could hardly keep up with it and if he couldn’t then I certainly could not! But unfortunately I got cut really bad (for me) on the coral reef. Yikes!! I felt like I was in a scene in finding Nemo when the blood is flowing into the water and Bruce the shark can’t control his love for blood anymore and the temptation to attack gets too great. Well when I saw how bad I was bleeding that was my reaction!! I freaked out and my hand, finger and knee were hurting so bad (as was my head with that tight mask on) that I knew I needed to get out.

I got crashed pretty bad even with Scott helping me get out. I just think snorkeling at Ke’E beach when I was a youth has spoiled me. There wasn’t anything to get cut on and it was so pretty and the fish just swam around you. I wish I could go snorkeling like that here. So far we haven’t found a place for the novice snorkeling folks like Kaylie and I. So then I sat on the shore and tried to recover. Eventually Cameron, who was boogie boarding and snorkeling like crazy, got cut on the coral as well. So he decided to get out with me. A shower never felt so good!! Cam played on Scott’s phone while I got dressed into dry clothes, folded some laundry and tidied up the timeshare. Even on vacation there are chores to be done. But it is so fun for me to tidy and organize so I don’t mind it!
