April 15th Heidi Update

Beyond all expectations and explanations of the medical field, Heidi is still among us and continues to fight on. She continues to decline in her health and mental alertness, but all that energy she has had throughout her life is now doing all it can to keep her fighting. Though she has not gotten as bad as fast as the doctors expected, she is following the typical pattern of decline, albeit much slower than usual. Her decline could continue for another 4 to 7 days. We are very grateful for this additional blessing of more time with her and she continues to enjoy messages (texts, emails, comments, etc) from her friends and family to brighten her days.

Please tell Heidi we love her and that me and Lindsey watched Anne of Green Gables (mine and Heidi's favorite movie when we were young) yesterday in honor of her=]. I thought of Heidi the whole time and always will whenever I watch it.

We continue to think and pray for you and your family each day. Even little Ava has added you to her nightly prayers saying, "bless mommy's friend Heidi." You are a true inspiration to our family and we thank you for your great faith. Your example will remain with me always.

Tigger, it was so good to see you last week and get to spend even a few minutes with you. I love you so much and I look up to your example every day. You truly have a strong spirit that energizes everyone you meet. I hope I can be even half as good a mother as you are! Love you and pray for you and your family.

Heidi,

I recall when you were a teenager, Heidi, spending time with my daughter, Ricci. You were such a great example to her and the other young women in Livermore.

I also recall visiting you and your adorable family when we both lived in Elk Grove. I admired your talents and wonderful, affectionate mothering capabilities.

You have been such a pillar of strength and a perfect example of faith to our family. I have such deep respect for you, Scott and your family. I know that Heavenly Father has His arms wrapped around each of you during this difficult time.

What a blessing it is to understand the true Gospel and know that "Families can be together forever".

Sending hugs and prayers for all of you,

Donna

Dear Heidi,

It is always inspiring to read about your strength in posts like this one. It reminds me of something I read on your blog, "look for small miracles and you'll find them everywhere."

After reading the update from Sunday night, it got me thinking and wondering what else I could learn from you, and so I re-read the whole past five years of your blog. A few things stood out to me. One is that you sure crammed a whole lot of living in five years. We can all learn from you that time is precious and shouldn't be wasted. Another is that you never complained about how much suffering you had to endure. The posts were always filled with hope and gratitude. Another lesson was on family. Your posts showed clearly how a gospel-centered family is the center of your life.

A friend of mine who got diagnosed with late stage cancer said it was like "jumping out of an airplane and discovering you have no parachute. You can go down kicking and screaming or you can enjoy the view." After reading your blog it became clear you chose to enjoy the view. Your focus was always on your family and not on yourself. I'm sure even at this hour you are continuing to do all you can to provide comfort to your family.

Thank you for sharing these lessons.

We continue to think of you and pray for you.

Love,
Jenn Price

Heidi and Scott, you don't know me but my brother, Chad, swims with Scott on the Masters team and I did a couple of workouts with them over Christmas. Chad referred me to your blog and I just wanted you to know how much your story has touched us and strengthened our testimonies of our Savior and the beautiful plan of happiness. Thank you for your example and may the Lord's Spirit fill your home.
